Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT)

ROUTE 1
Have an associate’s degree from an accredited post-secondary academic institution
AND
successfully complete a NAACLS accredited clinical laboratory technician (medical laboratory technician or equivalent) program.

ROUTE 2
Have an associate’s degree from an accredited post-secondary academic institution
AND
24 semester hours of college course work in the biological, chemical and/or medical sciences (in addition to or part of the associate’s degree)
AND
successfully complete a 50-week (or more) military medical laboratory training program.

ROUTE 3
Have an associate’s degree from an accredited post-secondary academic institution
AND
24 semester hours of college course work in the biological, chemical and/or medical sciences (in addition to or part of the associate’s degree)
AND
successfully complete a NAACLS-approved laboratory assistant program,
AND
Complete the equivalent of one year of full-time clinical laboratory work experience within the last two years. This experience must have included a minimum of two months in each of the four major disciplines of clinical laboratory practice (chemistry/urinalysis, hematology, immunohematology and microbiology). Laboratory work experience must be under the supervision of a certified clinical laboratory scientist, certified clinical laboratory technician, clinical laboratory scientist consultant or the equivalent.

ROUTE 4
Have an associate’s degree from an accredited post-secondary academic institution
AND
24 semester hours of college course work in the biological, chemical and/or medical sciences (in addition to or part of the associate’s degree),
AND
Complete the equivalent of two years of full-time clinical laboratory work experience within the last four years. This experience must have included a minimum of three months in each of the four major disciplines of clinical laboratory practice (chemistry/urinalysis, hematology, immunohematology and microbiology). Complete one year of the laboratory work experience under the supervision of a certified clinical laboratory scientist, certified clinical laboratory technician, credentialed clinical laboratory consultant or the equivalent.
