Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics
To be eligible for the CLSp(CG) Examination, applicants must:
ROUTE 1
Successfully complete a NAACLS-accredited baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate cytogenetics education program (hospital-or university-based) that includes the equivalent of six months of full-time experience in a cytogenetics laboratory.*
ROUTE 2
Have a baccalaureate degree and successfully complete a NAACLS-accredited program in clinical laboratory science (medical technology or equivalent)
OR
have a baccalaureate degree in the biological, chemical and/or medical sciences from an accredited college or university,
AND
Complete the equivalent of one year of full-time work experience within the last two years in a cytogenetics laboratory.*
ROUTE 3
Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
AND
complete 36 semester hours of college course work in the biological, chemical and/or medical sciences (in addition to or part of the baccalaureate degree),
AND
Complete the equivalent of one year of full-time work experience within the last two years in a cytogenetics laboratory.*
* A cytogenetics laboratory is defined as one capable of providing individuals with knowledge and practical experience in cytogenetics, including culturing, harvesting, staining, microscopy and chromosome analysis.
