Application Process

The NCA Examination(s) are administered via computer at over 130 AMP Assessment Centers. The following steps outline the application process:

  1. The candidate completes and submits a paper application (National Credentialing Agency Download Application) included in this handbook and pays the appropriate fee. The NCA reserves the right to verify information supplied by or on behalf of a candidate.

An application is considered complete and approved only if all information requested is complete, legible and accurate; if the candidate is eligible for the examination; and if the appropriate fee and documentation accompanies the application.

  1. The application is processed within four weeks of receipt by AMP, and a confirmation notice of eligibility is sent to the candidate within approximately six weeks. If you have not received a confirmation notice by seven weeks after mailing the application, please contact the AMP Examination Services Department at (913) 895-4600. Applications received via express mail are not considered express applications.
  2. The confirmation of a candidate’s eligibility and acceptance of the application is valid for 90 days. A candidate who fails to schedule an appointment for examination within the 90-day period forfeits the application and all fees paid to take the examination. A complete application and examination fee are required to reapply for a future examination.
  3. The confirmation notice contains a website address and toll-free telephone number for the candidate to contact AMP to schedule an appointment for examination. This toll-free line is answered from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Central Time) Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Most appointments can also be scheduled online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Be prepared to confirm a date and location for testing and to provide your Social Security number as your unique identification number. The examinations are administered by appointment only Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Individuals are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Refer to the following chart.
